Who Would Jesus Invite To Church This Easter?

If you think about it, the essence of Easter is the most life-giving and life-changing gift we celebrate.  The fact that Jesus makes new life possible is the most hopeful reality we know.  So, churches make a big deal of Easter, as we should.  However, the “big deal” is done it two very different ways.

Some churches go after the “already convinced.”  The focus is on inviting other “church people”.  Their hope is that people will come and like their church better than the one they’re coming from and, as a result, change churches.  And, if that doesn’t happen at least these churches can talk about what a great crowd they had for their event.  This is lazy ministry, if it’s ministry at all.

Other churches, like C3 Church, go after people who aren’t really affiliated with any church. The focus is people who don’t really factor God or church into their lives.  The desire is to reach these people with the message of Jesus so they can know the grace, mercy and hope that Christ-followers have found.  This approach changes people’s eternity. This is how we make a difference in the lives of our friends, family and our city.

So, C3, as you invite people to Easter (or any Sunday or event) let’s pray for and focus on those disconnected from God.  Those who aren’t plugged into a church.  These are the people Jesus came to reach. These are the people we’re called to serve. 86% of Floridians never go to church and that’s why C3 Church exists. Who would Jesus go after? That’s who we’re after.

Save the date… Easter is March 31 this year and 8 out of 10 people you and I invite will say “YES”! It’s an honor to serve in a movement of people who desire to truly make a difference. I can’t wait to see God change lives!
