You’ve Got Mail

Posted on March 17th, 2009.

its_ok_to_lookI’ve got to say everyday needs a good laugh.  Often I find I’m laughing at myself, but every now and then someone else provides the entertainment for the occasion.  Sunday we kicked off our new series @ C3 Church – “Right Where YOU Are.“  We are diving into the tough issues people face in real life, and God is using it already, big time.

Occasionally we mail information about our church to the zip codes we touch.  Now, anyone with any sense would know a couple basic things:

1.  If you already go to a church, we’re not interested in you.  Seriously.  It’s not that we don’t love you (in Jesus name :-) ), but we’re all about going after those far from God (that’s why some of you left…).

2.  We also assume that if you get something in the mail you don’t like, you do what we do… throw it away.

Today we got a couple calls to our office from people who attend another church about our recent mailing.  Honestly, I haven’t laughed that hard since the last time people like this acted this way.  You didn’t like us sending you the mailing – we didn’t send it to you, we sent it to the addresses in the zip code we touch and you just happen to live right here with us.  I promise, if there had been any way to remove your name and not send it to you we would have.  I’ve just got to wonder:

  • How many times have you called CVS angry about their mailers because you prefer Walgreens?
  • How long did it take you to call your 3 or 4 friends and work up this master plan to all call and complain together (with one of you telling us what church you’re from :-) )
  • Your life must genuinely suck to have nothing better to do with your time than have parties in memory of clubs that no longer exist and place calls to churches who are trying to reach real people.  Really… you need help, but in your dysfunction you helped us today… we laughed.
  • I assume your pastor preaches the Bible… I’m just wondering why it’s not working in your life.

At C3 you’re not our focus.  Our focus is reaching people for Christ… I just don’t know why it pisses you off so much…. actually I do.

Have a great day, and thanks for always reading.  Now you can jump on the phones and talk about this a little, or write something brilliant that 10 people will read… I’m done laughing and going back to the mission of reaching people.  By the way, can’t wait to hear from you again, because we’re going to keep sending those maillings – just remember… they’re for your neighbor.  Peace out.

I loved the mailer. But I may be biased considering I feel like I’m a part of the best community of faith on the planet! For the people pissed off by the one they got they can send it to the Loper home. I’ll just pass it along to my friends as an invite. I’ll also continue to pray for God to work in the lives of your neighbors, neighborhood and community.

    AMEN!
How many unchurched people did the phone callers reach this week?

I wouldn’t sweat the small stuff either. I bet the calls did make you laugh, it makes me laugh just thinking about them!
We love C3 and the staff

LOL…..I think it’s great!!!! Hopefully that negative energy and effort will be re-routed because C3 is no joking matter! I am so incredibly grateful to have been blessed as an unchurched and adopted C3 family. I got mailings back in the day…before I found my self and my family in endless “HELL”. A year where everything and anything that could go wrong did and thensome…shamefully, I did throw a few of those mailings away. Someone up there was not ready to give up on our family and they not only kept coming (the mailings)and making us aware of C3, it was exactly who would come help and save our family in more ways than one. Initially, by providing our family with food for a month (DID I MENTION, NO OTHER CHURCH CAME TO OUR RESCUE?????I DID NOT HEAR FROM NOT ONE OF YOU OUT THERE……LOL! We were never chased, harassed or bombarded, other than knowing every Sunday there would be people praying for our family, we simply were amazed by the kindness and genuine people that came to our door every Sunday with boxes of food to feed us and extend just ONE invitation to attend a service (December 21, 2008-I will never forget that date), JUST ONE…..It was the best invitation we have received and I am very proud to say that it was worth it that Sunday and it is worth it every single day since to know that this is real and that we are now a part of something amazing….thanks for the laughs. Can’t wait to see my C3 family Sunday at service and later on for the community group…WE ROCK and obviously the rest of you out there have way too much time in your hands, find something meaninful to do, C3 has and we are one of the many families that are LIVING proof of such. PEACE out…..God is Love!
