Lovin’ O’Town

I really miss the view from our cabin each morning in the mountains, but it’s great to be back in O’Town. We had an exhausting two-day drive from Texas so I’m about to crash. I can’t wait for next Sunday - I’ve really missed C3. Thanks to Robbie, Barry, and Travis for doing an awesome job each week.

Takin’ It Easy

I decided during this vacation to “unplug” from technology for the most part - it’s been a good thing. This time has been a blast for me and the “re-charge” that I needed. One of the many highlights was Texas Stadium - WOW! I’m also still so impressed with how awesome our kids were and the great work they did in Southeast Texas.

Sunday night I got one of those phone calls that make you think. We we’re wrapping up vacation in the mountains of North Arkansas (one of my favorite places to go to get away) and the call came. My Grandfather had just passed away. So, Monday morning we loaded up and headed back to Texas. Some time ago he had asked me to handle the grave-side service. He pastored the same church for over 40 years - he’s been retired for many years now. We’re back in Texas and still enjoying family time (even more - life is precious).

It’s been a good break for me from the pace of day-to-day C3 life. However, I am pumped about getting back and all that’s happening - it’s going to be an amazing fall. I hope you’re ready for all that’s coming - INVEST and INVITE!

Lovin’ the Mountains

We’re in the mountains of North Arkansas and it’s amazing. I’m soaking up everyday with my family on vacation. Our log cabin over-looks a massive lake. The fresh air and beauty is refreshing.

Today is also special because it’s Nate’s birthday - he’s now 10. I love him so much and I’m so proud of him.

Tomorrow is the waterslide that goes down the side of a mountain - I can’t wait!

Camp iMac

Camp iMac is going great. I’m really proud of our students and adults - they are doing an incredible job impacting this Southeast Texas community for Christ. During the hot, hot day our teams are helping with the recovery from hurricane damage (yes, it’s still going on). It’s late and I’m exhausted. Our group is working on three different houses that sustained major damage. I was amazed to learn that the families are still living in these houses - they are torn up. Today, drywall was hung, walls repaired, major cleaning and some painting.

Robbie, Riverdale and Travis are all doing a great job also. I’m praying that God really uses this week in the lives of our students.

What A Day

I love C3 Church - I can’t help it, it’s the greatest group of people desiring to become the church God has in mind for us to be. I’m also pumped about this series, “Unplugged.” This morning as we began looking at the 23rd Psalm we looked at who God really is as our Shepherd. I can find rest and peace in him alone. While it’s important to go on vacation and take breaks, in and of itself that’s not the deepest rest. God actually says it’s possible to be at peace and resting in him even in the middle of day to day crazy life. That’s because rest is not a destination, it’s a determination. As I focus on him and who he is in my life, I learn to trust him more each day and follow him as he leads me to peaceful and restful and exciting pastures.

He is an amazing God who fills my soul’s cravings. I can’t believe I get to do what I do - I am most blessed. Please remember to pray for our students and adult sponsors this week at camp iMac (I Motivate Action in Communities). We’ll be in Southeast Texas doing some hurricane relief work and some rec and getting in on some great music by Riverdale and listening to Robbie Robison each night. Please pray that God does a special work in each student’s life. Next week we continue “Unplugged” - Invest and Invite!
